What are you going to do for Armed Forces Day, do you even know what it means?
HA, I didn’t know what exactly Armed Forces Day was and for some reason I never paid much attention to it, maybe it was because of Memorial Day. I had it so confused. Many Americans celebrate Armed Forces Day annually on the third Saturday of May. It is a day to pay tribute to men and women who serve the United States’ armed forces. Armed Forces Day is also part of Armed Forces Week, which begins on the second Saturday of May. Well I am going to hand up my Red White and Blue, I would have that around all the time but my husband gets tired of it, and I do like to change decorations with the holidays. I do keep the flags, hanging, I change them sometimes around like one month Army Flag, US Flag or 82nd Flag.
Here is how it got started on August 31, 1949, Louis Johnson, who was the United States’ Secretary of Defense, announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy and Air Force Days.
So with Armed Forces Day this week, and Memorial Day the next weekend. We are going to have a lot of flags and patriotism flying by! Which makes this the most best part of the year! I love from May until July 4th. Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Army’s Birthday, I love the Red, White and Blue colors.
Thanks for telling me the history of the day! I was actually curious about it :) Just stopping by from the round-up! Hope you have a good weekend.
