For those Recommendations for changes in military pay, benefits, and programs made by something called the “Debt Commission.

This has helped me in saying that these politicians are making all these recommendations as they have in previous years, to just be doing something...I mean if they really want to do something they should put together a study on these programs, DDESS schools, Commissary and Exhange Systems...then present the findings good or bad, which would be alot easier than just posting some crap that they have said in the past.

Two weeks ago, Commission Co-Chairs, Former Republican Senator Alan Simpson from Wyoming and President Clinton’s Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles, floated a draft report that sparked all the media attention.

This report contained the recommendations of the co-chairs only; the full commission has not yet approved these recommendations.

Several recommendations did address potential savings from changing certain military benefits and programs.

Many of these recommendations are not new. For example, the consolidation of the commissary and exchange systems and the elimination of Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) system have been proposed often in similar reports, only to be scrapped when lawmakers realized it could cost more to cut the programs than to keep the status quo.
