Military Travel Discounts and other FREEBIES

So most of my readers know that usually you have to take a vacation when your husband gets block leave and that can be in the MIDDLE of WINTER!

Here are a few discounts that we have used in the past:

(1) Hollywood Universal Studios
Universal Studios Hollywood offers phenomenal discount options to all members of our Armed Forces all year long! Eligible members include retirees, DOD personnel, members of the National Guard/Reserves, dependents and all other base personnel. Tickets for these specially priced offers must be purchased in advance and can only be obtained at participating MWR/ITT offices throughout the United States. These special military rates are not available at the Universal Studios Hollywood box office. A military or U.S. Government I.D. is required for purchase. Here is how to obtain your tickets.

Visit your local base MWR/ITT ticket office to purchase your tickets. If your local base does not have tickets on hand, they will try to pre-order for you. It is recommended that you call them ahead of time to make these arrangements. The ticket office can usually have your tickets within five business days.

(3) Disney Extends It’s Military Salute for 2010
Starting 3 January until 31 July 2010 U.S. Military Members* can purchase up to six 4-Day Base Tickets for $99 per ticket, plus tax. These tickets can be used by the military member, family members, or friends. The tickets are valid for use through 30 September 2010. There are blockout dates during which the tickets are not valid. The blockout dates are: 27 March – 9 April 2010 at all four theme parks, and 3-4 July  2010 at Magic Kingdom only.

These tickets do not include either the Park Hopper or Water Park Fun & More options, but they can be upgraded to add either option, or both, for an additional $25, plus tax, per option.
Starting 3 January 2010 you can purchase your tickets at Your base’s Ticket/Travel Office, Shades of Green, or Disney Theme Park main entrance ticket windows. If you purchase at your base or Shades of Green you’ll save paying the tax. Tickets purchased at your base or Shades of Green need to be taken to a Disney Theme Park main entrance ticket window to be exchanged for the actual ticket.

Disney today announced a military discounted ticket deal for the remainder of 2010 which continues through 1 October 2011. This offer is good at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The tickets must be purchased by 28 September 2011. As reported earlier there will be 4 day military tickets for Disney World but Disney has decided to also offer a 3 day military ticket for Disneyland. A total of 6 tickets may be purchased by the military member. (The military member has to purchase theirs and can buy 5 more)
