My learning experiene about wines...Wine Tasting Series part 1

So I have decided to start out telling you about wines. Now I am not a wine drinker, I think most of the wines are very alcoholic tasting and super dry. I do prefer SWEET wines, and I have almost gotten spoiled by this one wine, that I ABSOLUTE LOVE and I can't find it anymore or they don't make it.

I have decided to make this a series of wine tasting and I am here to tell you about my adventures. I have a wine collection already with 10 bottles, and a few from Kansas, Biltmore, etc.

The first Winery I am going to visit is about 30 minutes from here called, Potomac Point Winery, 275 Decatur Road ,Stafford, Virginia 22554

These are the wines they have, I am going to taste them but I tell you what I am not sure I am gonna like them, but I am going to try a few of them.

    Chardonnay
  •    2008     Chardonnay Richland Reserve
    This wine has been made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. It has been barrel fermented and aged for 6 months in french barrels. It has melon fruit flavors with a buttery finish that goes great with any cream sauce or just sipping by the fire. Platinum Medal Winner at the Virginia Wine Classic Competition.
  •    2009     Chardonnay
    Our most versatile wine is crisp and refreshing. Nicely balanced with toastynotes and aromas of pear and mango in the bouquet. Beautiful fruit hints followed by a lingering finish. Made 100% from Chardonnay grapes.
    Petit Manseng
  •    2008     Vin De Paille
    Dried 30 days after being harvested in natural conditions with cold temperature and wind blowing day and night. While all the flavors and the sugar concentrate themselves to obtain a very rich must, the Botrytis worked slowly to give its typical aroma. Ripe apricot and honey flavors with citrus accent. Great dessert wine! 100% Petit Manseng Bronze medal winner at the International Eastern Wine Competition.

    This wine has a ripe fruity flavors with reminescent of hyacinths, pears, lemon and lychees. From the first mineral sensation to the balanced ending, it is a pleasure to drink. 90% Traminette was blend with 10% fo Chardonnay.
    Viognier
  •    2009     Viognier Richland Reserve
    This wine has hint of tropical fruits, peach, coconat and herbs. Fully fermented and aged in stainless steel tank, has been bland with 15% of Chardonnay barrel fermented. It has been the only white wine of the East Cost awarded with a silver medal ta the Decanter World Wine Competition. Also Gold medal at the Governor's Cup 2010 and Platinum medal winner at Virginia Wine Classic Competition.

  •    2009     La Belle Vie White
    This blend of 50% Vidal Blanc - 15% Chardonnay - 20% Traminette - 15% Viognier is smooth and refreshing, perfect for sipping on the patio This slightly sweet white has hints of citrus, melons and roses. Silver medal winner at the International Eastern Wine Competition and Finger Lakes Wine Competition.

    This beautiful semi-dry Rose'has wonderful strawberry jam and orange flavors, with rose accents with a very refreshing finish. A pefect wine as an apertif or to enjoy with a light summer meal from the grill. Made from 100% Syrah grapes.

    A fruity peppery wine with flavors of blueberry, strawberry and vanilla with a pepper finish.It is smooth with a medium tannin feel on the middle of the palate. It ends with a long rich finish. The french barrels make it a good balance of a wood accent at the end. Gold Medal winner at Governor's Cup 2010 The Cabernet Franc was blend with 10% of Tannat and 5% of Merlot.

    Our Heritage is a blend of Bordeaux varietals that creates a full bodied wine with a smooth velvet finish. Black currant & violet flavors with an exquisite bouquet makes this our signature wine. Commended at Decanter World Wine Competition, 88 points at BTI, Silver Medal at Finger Lakes Wine Competition. Made by blending 47% Merlot - 25.5% Cabernet Franc - 19% Cabernet Sauvignon - 8.5% Petit Verdot

    Very smooth wine with flavors of ripe black berries,balanced with nice,soft nuances of oak and pepper. It is a medium body wine, dry with soft tannins. Perfect by itself or with any kind of meal.     This medium body wine has a rich deep red color. The bouquet has hint of violet, tart strawberry, elderberry with accents of vanilla, spices and milk chocolate.The taste is rich from the beginningto the ende with soft tannins and a medium acidity level. Very viscous, it will coat your mouth. Double gold, Platinum, Gold and Silver medal winner. 80% Norton - 15% Cabernet Franc - 5% Petit Verdot
    Petit Verdot
  •    2008     Petit Verdot
    Deep rich color with a unique bouquet of pepper, smoked wood, hay and leather. It has an accent of black currant. A velvety feel in the mouth but with strong and long tannins. It should be paired with strongly flavored food, robust meat and aged cheeses. Gold medal winner at International Eastern Wine Competition and 86 points at BTI. This version come from the blend of 85% Petit Verdot and 15% of Cabernet Franc.
    Red Wine Blend
  •    2009     Abbinato
    A Chianti style blend, easy to drink light bodied with a soft tannic structure. Notes of chocolate and butter with cherry and red fruit accents. Perfect to serve with your favorite Italian meal. Silver Medal Winner at Wine Classic Competition. Made with 50% fo Sangiovese and 50% of Touriga Nacional.

  •     Rabelos Port
    50% Touriga Nacional - 50% Tinta Cao. These Portuguese varietals team together to make our Port style wine reminiscent of the old country. Full mouth feel and lasting finish. Well balanced, just amazing!
