The Field of Honor, Fayetteville NC

Last year (May 2010) I had the distinguished opportunity to participate in Fayetteville's Field of Honor, I was a guest and I was asked to honor my solider. It was a great ceremony, on May 15 10 am the ceremony started. I was sitting on the front row beside CSM Capel's Wife and two seats down from Gen Mulholland, and on the right side of me was a French representative from the sister city in France.

For this event in May it was a HOT morning already l know at least 80 degrees, my husband had just returned from a tour in Iraq 14 days earlier. The speaker was announcing the write up we did in the paper honoring our service member. I was so honored to be asked to participate in this event.

When they called my name a solider walked over to me and escorted me and held my flag and when we got to my spot, I put the American flag in the ground, it was so MOVING. I hope I can participate in this years event, it was so amazing to see all those flags waving in the wind!
Here in this photo are Melissa Capel, Councilwoman Val Applewhite, Representative Diane Parfitt and me! I am so honored to be with all these wonderful women!

Visit the Glory Days Field of Honor, where we will behold a beautiful display of thousands of American flags, each honoring a brave member of our Armed Forces. This living display of heroism serves as a patriotic tribute to the strength and unity of Americans, and will honor all who are currently serving, those who have served, and the men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation’s security and freedom.
