Book Review: Condoleezza Rice: A Memoir of My Extraordinary, Ordinary Family and Me

Condoleezza Rice: A Memoir of My Extraordinary, Ordinary Family and Me

So I was dying to read a book about Condoleeza's accomplishments! Wow you know I had a different opinion of her after reading the book, I was like why is she republican and what is she doing. I really admired her before I read the book, but now OMG she has really made me want to kick my butt into gear and get things done!

She is so smart, and her parents were so smart. They knew what it took to raise a respectable black female in the 1960's. With the race issues going on, you know amazing. My family was raised the same way, my grandparents wanted the best for us (my grandparents raised me). They wanted the nicer things in life, and they wanted us to make something of ourselves. You know letting someone down is totally the worst thing in life. I hated when they said "you know I'm disappointed" I only heard that ONCE and I was in the 5th grade. There was no bringing anything home less than a B, that was just un heard of. I learned to play the piano and violin in elementary school. Of course when you are in your 60s and raising kids, it is easier because you have money saved up to spend on the nicer things in life. I find as a parent now, it is hard to keep the kids in all the activities and stuff b/c my husband and I are just starting out.
