Inspiration can be found anywhere

So as I sit here thinking of WHAT I can achieve next, I am thinking about inspiration. Here in DC or in any big city, where there is a lot of competition, you really have to stand out. Let's face it I am not in my 20's with no kids or husband to worry about, so I am kind of limited in my things. I do have to go above and beyond to compete with these 20 somethings who graduate with a BA and go straight to grad school and get their master's by age 26. You know I really am not sure what path I want to take to get there but I have a end goal in mind...just not sure which path to take.

My mom told me over the weekend that I, inspire her. I have inspired her to go back to college at the age of 56 my mom is GOING to get her Bachelor's degree. I am so proud of her. I am amazed that she is inspired by me. You know I want to be an inspiration to my children. My inspiration would have to be my family. I want the best for my family.

Growing up my life was great, it isn't like I had a hard childhood but it wasn't all peaches and cream either. It had it's moments, and I can honestly say that my mom and grandparents on my mom's were the best thing that were in my life. My dad wasn't a big part of my life, and now I am not sure I want him part of my life. Without them (mom and grandparents) I couldn't have accomplished the things I have gotten. Also you have to be strong and you have to parent your kids, that's what my grandparents did and mom too. They didn't let me go off alone on field trips or over night trips, even basketball games and home coming, they sat in the parking lot or on the opposite end of the football stadium. They let me go to the mall but they sat outside and waited for me, they wanted to make sure I was safe. Yeah it was hard as a teenager but the other side is they could have said NO and not let me go at all.

So I want to be like my grandparents, they are/were great people they went to college, had professional careers as school teachers. They believed in school, and when I wasn't in actual school I was in some school related program. They knew that there was competition out there and they wanted the best for me. They let me take what ever I wanted, violin, piano, ballet, tap, jazz and baton. They always made sure I had something going on.

SO as I have heard a good friend say, "I've learned that you have to make the commitment within yourself to do whatever it takes to get the job done and at the same time inspire others along the way."
