Let's help Operation Gratitude raise money for VETERAN's DAY!

In recognition of Veteran’s Day, Pinger—makers of the popular Textfree apps for iOS, Android and the Web—announced they are partnering with Operation Gratitude to raise funds to support deployed soldiers overseas. From November 1st through Veterans Day on November 11th, the company will donate $1.00 to Operation Gratitude for each new download of the company’s free iOS and Android Textfree apps or free signup on Textfree Web (up to $5,000.00). The money raised will fund shipping for as many as 330 new care packages to deployed soldiers—just in time for the holiday season. Readers, I would love to get the word out to you and your friends on this campaign, so that you can get involved to raise funds that will help Operation Gratitude continue putting a smile on our service members faces.

PINGER PARTNERS WITH OPERATION GRATITUDE TO SUPPORT OUR MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES
Maker of Free Texting and Talking Smartphone Apps Pledges Donation of up to $5,000 in Honor of Veterans Day

San Jose, Calif. – November 1, 2011 – Pinger, the company behind the innovative Textfree apps for iOS and Android that make texting and mobile calling free, today announced its partnership with non-profit Operation Gratitude and a donation pledge of up to $5,000 in recognition of Veterans Day. For every new download of the Pinger Textfree and Pinger Textfree with Voice apps as well as any new user sign up for Pinger Textfree Web between November 1 and Veterans Day on November 11, Pinger will donate $1.00 to Operation Gratitude to support its care package programs.

Operation Gratitude seeks to put a smile on a service member's face and express our nation's appreciation by sending care packages and letters personally addressed to U.S. Military deployed in harm's way, their children left behind and Wounded Warriors recovering in transition units. Each package contains donated products with an approximate value of $100 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. The $5,000 donation from Pinger will fund over 330 new care packages to be shipped, just in time for the holiday season.

“We hear from military members who use our free texting and talking apps to stay in touch with loved ones back home,” said Greg Woock, Pinger co-founder and CEO. “We appreciate their service to the United States and their patronage of Pinger, so we wanted to give back.  Operation Gratitude’s mission to keep our troops connected to home is very much in line with our mission to keep communication open and free for everyone.”

Pinger’s Textfree apps enable military personnel to choose their own local U.S. phone number they can use to send and receive texts, picture messages, and talk for free to friends and family in the states from  anywhere in the world they are deployed. Textfree with Voice works on all networks and through WiFi.  Military personnel deployed internationally can avoid prohibitive roaming fees by using the apps over any WiFi connection.  Additionally, friends and family who receive the messages and calls don’t need to be a Pinger user, and they can talk and text from any U.S. number:
  • Pinger Textfree for Android and iOS enables free unlimited text and picture messaging to over 29 countries, including the U.S.
  • Pinger Textfree with Voice supports free texting and calling to over 29 countries including the U.S., and to any U.S. phone number when abroad, on iPhone and iPod touch.
  • Pinger Textfree Web offers a way for anyone with a web browser to text for free with a phone number—no mobile device needed!
  • The apps even enable anyone to convert an iPod touch into a “phone” for free texting and talking.

“We’re excited to have this chance to work with Pinger—a company that supports free communication and gives our service members an easy way to stay in touch with their spouses, children, parents, and friends,” said Carolyn Blashek, Operation Gratitude founder and President. “With this donation, we’ll further our goal to send even more care packages to deployed troops, something we view as instrumental in keeping them connected to those who support and care for them back home.”
