Political Leadership and Ethical Consequences

It is just terrible, where people in this country have no respect, no morals and no ethical upbringing. We live in society where it is acceptable to just go around plotting to kill people. It is shameful that people who are elected can't voice their opinions, or the opinions of their constituents without fear from repercussion from people who do not share their opinions. I believe when you are in the spotlight, political or not, you need to be careful how you construe your words to the public. What happened to the morals of people who just fly off at the mouth without thinking what they say might cause issues. IF they are upset with their political leaders then join the cause to not reelect them to their leadership positions, do not assassinate them and the people around them. What happened to toleration?

Now is the time for political leaders, on both sides of the aisle, to set an example for civic communication that will challenge our country’s most pressing issues. In recent years, we have witnessed an increase in divisive, horrible language, where hate is an acceptable form of political discourse. Representative Gabrielle Giffords was always encouraging more women to join her and lead; she was a woman who came to Congress because she believed that we all must participate in our democracy. The consequences of our actions affect generations to come and we do not need to let her or other women down!
